Just Write is a well-established group of creative writers who are committed to improving our work and helping others improve theirs. We encourage and assist each other by reviewing and critiquing each other's work, offering advice, suggestions, and reassurance. We use the Internet and email to trade chapters, stories, articles, and poetry for review and feedback. Most members live in Utah, but we have members living in other states too.
In the League, Just Write is referred to the At-Large or Online chapter. We rarely have in-person meetings because of the distance involved. A few times a year some of us meet in person, usually at a writing conference. At least once a quarter, the chapter president or vice-president sends a newsletter.
We provide a review / critique platform for our members to receive feedback on their stories, articles, novels, query letters, poems ... whatever they have written. Twice a month we provide the opportunity to participate in a critique session with other members who appreciate feedback on their writing projects. In the sessions, participants can "pay it forward" by providing feedback to other members. Critique session leaders strive to align participants with authors who write in similar genres.
Through our chapter newsletters, we rejoice in each other's publishing success.
Whether chapter members write genre or literary novels, short stories, memoirs, or nonfiction, those ready to share a page, section, or chapter, or section participate in one of our semi-monthly critique sessions. To keep from overwhelming reviewers, we maintain word count limits for each participant (up to 3200 words in each submission). See the Critiques webpage for more information.
In addition to critiques, our newsletters contain writing quotes, resources, editorials, member publishing news, etc.
